Boiler installations, Chepstow

Reliable boiler installers in Chepstow.

At AMW Heating we specialise in boiler installations Chepstow homeowners can trust. Our engineers are OFTEC registered for oil and Gas Safe registered for gas and LPG, which matters here more than in most places: step outside the town and many homes rely on an oil tank or an LPG tank rather than the mains.

In the town itself, most homes have mains gas and suit a modern gas boiler. Out in the villages along the Wye Valley and the lanes towards Shirenewton and Devauden, it’s common to find an oil boiler in a utility room or outhouse, or an LPG boiler fed from a tank in the garden. We fit all three and can advise if you’re thinking of changing fuel.

Replacing an old oil or LPG boiler is a good time to look at the whole system, from the tank to the controls. Start with an online boiler quote, or talk it through with the team.

Off-grid and on-grid

Oil, LPG and gas boilers around Chepstow.

Which boiler suits your home depends first on the fuel you can get. Here’s how we help across town and country.

Oil boiler installations

The most common choice for off-grid homes in the valley. We fit indoor and external oil boilers, with OFTEC paperwork on completion. See oil boilers.

Oil tanks

An old single-skin tank is a pollution risk. We can replace it with a bunded tank at the same time as your boiler. See oil tank installations.

LPG boiler installations

LPG runs from a tank or cylinders supplied by your LPG company, and suits homes where an oil tank won’t fit. See LPG boilers.

Gas boilers in town

Most of Chepstow itself is on mains gas. We fit combi, system and regular gas boilers for homes on the grid.

Oil and LPG servicing

Off-grid boilers need an annual service as much as gas ones. See oil boiler servicing and LPG boiler servicing.

Switching fuel

If mains gas has reached your road, or LPG would suit better than oil, we’re registered for all three and can compare them honestly before you commit.

Off-grid boiler trouble

Oil or LPG boiler past its best?

An ageing oil or LPG boiler often gives warning signs before it fails. If you spot any of these, call us and we’ll arrange a visit to look at the boiler and the tank.

[VERIFY SAFETY LINE WITH AMW — oil / LPG emergency advice is new copy. Natural Resources Wales incident line 0300 065 3000 and Environment Agency 0800 80 70 60; confirm both numbers before publishing]

Worth checking on an off-grid system:

Oil leak? Turn the boiler off and close the valve at the tank if it’s safe to. Stop oil reaching drains with sand or earth, and report a spill that could reach a drain or watercourse: to Natural Resources Wales on 0300 065 3000 in Wales, or the Environment Agency on 0800 80 70 60 in Sedbury, Tutshill and the rest of England. Smell LPG? Turn off the supply at the tank if you can, get everyone outside and call your LPG supplier’s emergency number.

Oil or LPG?

Questions

Boiler installations Chepstow: your questions.

Questions we’re asked about new boilers in and around Chepstow. Can’t see yours? Call the team on 0117 990 2735 or browse all our FAQs.

Most off-grid homes around Chepstow use an oil boiler or an LPG boiler. Oil is usually the choice where there’s room for a tank; LPG suits homes where a tank supplied by your LPG company is easier to site.

If the tank is old, single-skinned or showing damage, it makes sense to do both together. A modern bunded tank helps protect against leaks. We’ll check your tank at the survey. See oil tank installations.

Yes. As well as Chepstow itself, including Bulwark and Thornwell, we cover villages such as St Arvans, Tintern, Shirenewton, Devauden and Mathern, and Sedbury and Tutshill on the English side of the Wye.

An OFTEC registered installer, who can self-certify that the work meets building regulations. Our engineers are OFTEC registered for oil and Gas Safe registered for gas and LPG.

Yes, it’s possible. It involves removing the oil tank, arranging an LPG supply and tank with an LPG company and fitting an LPG boiler. We’ll talk through whether it’s worth it for your home.

A like-for-like oil boiler swap usually takes a day or two. Replacing the tank or moving the boiler adds time, and we’ll confirm it all on your quote.

Once a year. Oil boilers in particular need regular cleaning and adjustment to burn efficiently. See oil boiler servicing.

Local to you

Boiler installations in Chepstow and the Wye Valley.

Chepstow sits right on the border, just over the Severn from Bristol, and we cover the town and the valley beyond it.

Chepstow is a Monmouthshire market town at the mouth of the River Wye, watched over by its Norman castle and known for its racecourse. In town you’ll find older stone houses and terraces near the centre and larger estates in areas such as Bulwark and Thornwell, most of them on mains gas.

Follow the Wye north towards Tintern, or head west to Shirenewton and Devauden, and the picture changes. Many rural homes there are off the gas network and depend on oil or LPG, often in older farmhouses and cottages. Across the river, Sedbury and Tutshill share the NP16 postcode but sit in Gloucestershire, in England.
